THE IDEA

A peanut butter wonderland

Celebrating all things peanut butter, Pic’s Peanut Butter World showroom and factory in Nelson is the home of one of New Zealand’s iconic brands. Designed by JTB Architects, Pic’s headquarters offers the public a special view of its quality peanut butter manufacturing in a unique setting conceived on a grand scale.

With its instantly recognisable red star and black circle, the Pic’s logo was the focal point of a design that draws visitors into a unique experience, starting with custom MasterTread entrance matting from Advance Flooring

THE DESIGN

Rolling out the red carpet

Dominating a glazed foyer is the big red star in the entranceway, whose circular motif is echoed in porthole windows and the imposing central spiral staircase. Bringing it all together is the broad red pathway, which begins in the car park and leads visitors in and around the 3,500 m2 premises, adding energy and drama to the double-height showroom.

Matching Pic’s iconic red was part of the brief for Advance, who supplied MasterTread matting within the circular entranceway. As well as being tough, low-profile and highly slip-resistant, MasterTread uses moisture-absorbent polyamide inserts within aluminium channels to efficiently remove dirt and moisture from foot traffic, protecting the interior and reducing cleaning and maintenance costs. MasterTread also exceeds fire safety regulations, comes in any chosen colour, and is designed to handle heavy traffic and rolling loads.

THE OUTCOME

A glamorous welcome for every visitor

Pic’s is not just one of New Zealand’s favourite spreads, but with Pic’s Peanut Butter World it is now home to one of Nelson’s most popular attractions, thanks to its inspired design. With so many visitors walking down its red carpet, MasterTread helps ensure it looks good and stays clean for years to come.
