THE IDEA

A stadium designed for experience, performance and identity

One New Zealand Stadium represents a major civic investment in Christchurch’s rebuild, delivering a world-class venue designed to host large-scale sporting and entertainment events while providing premium corporate and hospitality experiences.

Designed by Warren and Mahoney, the project combines architectural expression with high-performance infrastructure, creating spaces that range from large public concourses to refined corporate and hospitality environments. Within these premium areas, interior finishes were required to deliver both a strong design narrative and the durability needed for a high-use public venue.

Advance Flooring was engaged to develop a custom carpet tile solution that would align precisely with the architectural vision while meeting the practical demands of a stadium environment.

THE DESIGN

A collaborative approach to material and colour

Working closely with Warren and Mahoney, Advance Flooring developed a fully custom carpet tile design tailored specifically for the project. The process involved translating the architectural vision into a cohesive flooring solution that could be consistently applied across corporate boxes, hospitality lounges, premium suites and associated circulation areas.

A bespoke colourway was created to reinforce the identity of the interior spaces, ensuring the flooring contributes meaningfully to the overall design language rather than acting as a neutral background element. The modular format allows the design to scale efficiently across multiple areas while maintaining visual consistency.

At the same time, the carpet tile system was engineered to withstand the unique demands of a stadium environment, where high foot traffic, event turnover and ongoing maintenance requirements place increased pressure on interior finishes.
