New entry matting for premier Invercargill hotel

Entry matting from Advance Flooring adds style, safety and durability underfoot for The Langlands in central Invercargill.

From its rooftop cocktail bar to the ground-floor street café, The Langlands hotel has quickly become a destination for locals and visitors alike. To bring style and safety to the hotel’s entranceways, architects Warren and Mahoney specified CoralTread entry matting from Advance Flooring.

Set on a street corner in the heart of the CBD, the building’s three distinct structures were designed to engage with the site in a positive and inviting way. Higher up, they are connected by glazed bridges, which articulate the spaces between them and reference the rhythm and pattern of surrounding historic buildings.

At the main entranceway, a wind lobby precedes the ground-floor reception and café, a grand double-height space with marble flooring that is both elegant and welcoming. Recessed CoralTread entry matting is fitted to the full length and width of the lobby, creating a great first impression.

CoralTread is a stylish, low-profile entry matting system providing optimal dirt and moisture removal while retaining its good looks, even in busy areas. This is particularly important for hotel entrances, where rolling loads like wheeled suitcases and luggage carts add to the constant foot traffic.

Being highly slip-resistant, CoralTread provides protection and safety for guests as they pass through the entrance lobby and head on into the reception area and café. Its highly moisture-absorbent polyamide inserts reduce slip hazards, keeping the marble interior flooring drier and safer. This also protects the floor itself and reduces cleaning and maintenance costs.

CoralTread inserts are available in eight stylish colourways, and the slimline aluminium frame may be supplied in any choice of colour. For The Langlands, the designers selected an anodised black aluminium with dark Onyx inserts to complement their design palette, creating a sophisticated, hard-wearing entrance to welcome guests and Invercargill locals in safety and style.
