Advance Flooring’s Entrance Matting Range – which today spans CoralTread, EverTread, ExtraTread, MasterTread, Axis and Shuttle – was developed in New Zealand in the 1980s by Advance’s founders. The range has been locally manufactured by the family-owned business from the very start.
Designed and engineered in New Zealand specifically for our climate and code compliance, the high-performance entrance matting is made of robust polyamide carpet inserts set into a heavy-duty aluminium frame.
Bulk stock means supply is guaranteed
The majority of the aluminium sections are extruded in New Zealand, with the aluminium produced at the Tiwai Point smelter near Invercargill. A few components are sourced from overseas – including the polyamide carpet inserts – with all parts held in bulk stock at Advance’s South Auckland warehouse, and local extruders also holding aluminium for continuous supply. The entrance mats are fabricated in Auckland.
Working with local extruders who hold stock of all the standard styles means Advance can guarantee supply time frames. All of the entry mats are custom-made to order, and once final measurements are confirmed, rapid sourcing and manufacture ensures the product is delivered on schedule.
Controlling price fluctuations
For Advance, being able to offer pricing stability is a further advantage of working with local extruders. Aluminium is an internationally traded commodity which has recently seen some increases in cost; holding bulk stock in all their components gives Advance the ability to ensure pricing is kept as stable as possible.
As well as componentry, Advance also control their own labour costs compared to those for imported products. Finally, offering a supply and install service when required gives Advance total control over project costs and time frames, from specification to final installation.
Local manufacturing supports the economy
Local manufacture means Advance are not beholden to international shipping, with its current unpredictability. Products are also handled more carefully, eliminating the damage that can happen with international freight.
Keeping the manufacturing process local means supporting New Zealand businesses and communities, to the benefit of all. And because Advance have full control over the materials that go into their products, achieving environmental certification is simple and straightforward; the entrance matting currently has Declare certification, and is in the process of acquiring Green Tag accreditation.
